Alternative and Augmented Communications

Alternative and Augmentative Communication: Our licensed Speech Language Pathologists conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess your child’s ability to communicate their wants and needs in the least restrictive manner at home, school, and in the community. These assessments range from low tech picture communication boards/books, to high tech individualized software applications for iPads, or custom speech generating communication devices.

Durable Medical Equipment Evaluations

Our licensed Physical and Occupational Therapists conduct a variety of assessments to determine you or your child’s durable medical equipment needs to access their environments in the least restrictive manner, helping to enhance their independence and functionality at home, school, and in the community.

Typical Assessments: Walkers, Gait Trainers, Crutches, Manual Wheelchairs, Power Wheelchairs, Hoyer Lifts, Adaptive bikes, Dressing aides, Bath, Shower, Toilet equipment, Feeding aides, etc.

We offer thorough evaluations by licensed clinicians to identify the best orthotic or prosthetic devices that will improve stability and mobility in everyday environments.

Occupational Therapy

Our Occupational Therapy team focuses on:

Intensive Physical Therapy Program

Our owner, Kim Loving, PT, DPT trained under the founders of the TheraSuit Method® and Universal Exercise Unit, Izabela and Richard Koscielny, who are based in Michigan. The TheraSuit Method® is an Intensive Neuro Functional Strengthening (INFS) program which is based and validated by research and science from Epigenetic, Neurology, and Exercise Physiology, for more information on this training visit https://suittherapy.com/

Our Intensive Physical Therapy Program is uniquely designed to your child’s needs whether your child has low muscle tone or high, spastic muscle tone. It is structured into three treatment phases and consists of 3-hour treatment sessions, 4 days a week for 3 weeks.

The TheraSuitTM is a soft Dynamic Proprioceptive Orthotic that is FDA registered, sometimes referred to as “suit therapy”.

TheraSuitTM Applications: Cerebral Palsy, Developmental delays, Traumatic Brain Injury, Post Stroke (CVA), Ataxia, Athetosis, Spasticity (increased muscle tone), Hypotonia (low muscle tone), and other neurological disorders.

Universal Exercise Unit (UEU), can be used for a variety of activities: strengthening exercises, transitional movements, balance activities, coordination drills, and gross motor skill training.

 

Program Phases

The Intensive Physical Therapy Program is structured into three distinct treatment phases, each targeted for specific focus throughout the program.

 

  • Phase I: Warm-Up
    • Lengthen soft tissue
    • Improve joint and body awareness
    • Enhance postural alignment
  • Phase II: Strengthening
    • Focus on isometric, isotonic, and resistive training to address strength deficits
  • Phase III: Functional Application
    • Engage in activities that mimic daily living tasks
    • Improve mobility, balance, coordination, and gross/fine motor skills
